Reports reaching MyNewsGh.com indicate that some major pubs in the Volta region yesternight had shortage of beer and other alcoholic beverages in the region as the region celebrated Isaac Dogboe’s victory over Jessie Magdaleno in the 11th round boxing knockout in Philadephia deep into the night in Ho, Hohoe, Aflao and other parts of the region.
The New York City Bar and grill, where they serve cat light soup on request had too many demands than they could handle, while adjoining road side restaurants also run out of stock, we learnt.

At Kiki’s court in Hohoe, all spaces were filled while the bars at the center of town partied late into the night with a couple of bars showing a replay of the Isaac Dogboe-Jessie Magdaleno fight on TV Africa, projected on screens for patrons of the bars.
Some took to social media to complain about the shortage. Patrick Avormey, a native of Dzodze in the Volta region wrote: “Hmm, yesterday, the way I struggled before I was able to [buy] two diaaaa only God knows”.
MyNewsGh.com also observed the Ewe community on social media couldn’t hide their pride in the whipping their son gave the American, Jessie Magdaleno who bowed to Isaac Dogboe in humility after the good beatings the proud Ewe Hero, Royal Storm Dogboe gave him.

Isaac Dogboe has been known to take strong inspiration from his Ewe heritage, with his signature Ewe bead necklace. Before the fight in Philly, the Dogboe Corner sang Jama in Ewe to cheer him up and urge him on.
In the traditional jokes of social media, some say Magdaleno should have known who his opponent is and boycotted the fight, as even in Ghana, few people will dare fight an Ewe.
But over all, it was healthy and beautiful as Ghanaians from all walks of life joined in celebrating the youngest Champion ever of Ghana Boxing.
MyNewGh.com has also sighted a statement from the MPs of the Volta region, who wouldn’t want to be left out- congratulating their son Isaac Dogboe in his historic feat in the WBO Super Bantamweight Title bout.
The statement, signed by Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah said his victory was possible “through dint of hard work, discipline, perseverance, self-belief and courage, which are values worthy of emulation not only by the youth in the Volta Region; indeed, all Ghanaians ought to be inspired by Isaac’s story.”
“The Volta Caucus in Parliament comprising all 25 NDC MPs and our only colleague NPP MP from Krachi East, wishes to assure “The Royal Storm” and his team of our continuous solidarity and a most befitting welcome to the region upon his return from the United States of America.” The statement added.
They expressed appreciation to all Ghanaians for the love and support.
“We thank all Ghanaians for their commendable and overwhelming show of support, love and fervent prayers which contributed in no small measure in achieving this memorable victory.”
